Guinea pepper

Guinea pepper is native to tropical Africa, which is home to almost all of the 150 species of Xylopia. The thirty-foot trees bear fruits that are an important pepper spice. The seeds contains avoceine and are ground and added to snuff, wines, coffee, as well as food. They are also used to purify water.
