Vegetarianism: Allergies
Studies are showing that "animal protein" allergy may result from a food sensitivity in the mother and that the DNA and RNA can be altered through continual contact with an allergen or toxin. For whatever the reason, it is possible that a child is unable to assimilate the protein molecule from mother's milk or from "cow's milk" formulas. These allergies can vary from being decidedly uncomfortable to deadly. It happens, on occasion, that a baby is stripped of the intestinal villi when animal protein is used as the formula. Not only are the protein molecules unable to be broken down and absorbed, but the digestive tract is damaged as well. In such cases, the child will undoubtedly have the need for soy formula and a vegetarian-type diet for much of his life. Occasionally, they can "outgrow" the problem. It is in a case such as this, that the family must decide if they should keep the "poison" out of the house and away from all, or try to separate the foods and explain to the child why he cannot have any. It is not an easy choice. It is this scenario that ultimately decided our family of seven to form the motto "One for all and all for one."
