About Us
Innvista began in 1997 as a hotel program designed by Sean, who eventually offered it for free use on the internet. The name for this website, Innvista, came from those efforts. Sean made up the word by combining "inn" for the hotel program and "vista", a visual view of the hotel program. From there came the family decision to add various subjects of personal interest that each felt might be of help to others. Having lived in places where books and adequate libraries were less accessible and finding that information was scattered all over the internet, it became clear that we wanted to bring all that to a central location which would make it easier for everyone, especially students, to find. To this day, as subjects are brought to our attention, we take months to research them and add them to the site. We believe that credible information should be free for everyone, as long as proper credit is given.
Welcome to Innvista! Come in and look around!
Duane Duff has a Bachelor in Education degree, and is now retired from classroom teaching and school library work that involved a 38-year span in three provinces of Canada and one US state. Still having an interest in many topics, he likes to research in libraries in whatever country he finds himself. He has written his autobiography in English titled Leaving Tracks. Another book, I Have a Story to Tell, relates stories of some of the many interesting people with whom he has come in contact over the years. Other books, including collections of stories written by children, are in progress.
Pamela Duff is a Registered Nurse, once certified in Gerontology, now a certified sports nutrition consultant. A former nursing director, she was forced into retirement after developing a heart condition, which she resolved strictly through diet, supplements, and a less stressful lifestyle. She has also overcome ulcerative colitis using the same methodology. Beginning her nutritional education over 36 years ago when her oldest son was diagnosed as hyperactive, Pam has, over the years, been able to educate others in that area, as well as in others. She believes in blending therapies to suit individual needs since treating an individual encompasses many aspects and not just a localized "problem". Duane and Pam have lived in several Canadian provinces. They have also spent nearly nine years in the US and five years in Mexico. Currently, they are living in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada, where Pam volunteers for “People Helping People” and works part-time in a health food store. Pam and Duane have two sons and one daughter and six grandchildren.
Sean Duff is the older son of Duane and Pam. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography degree and is a member of Mensa and Mysterium.
Martha Arévalo de Duff, the wife of Sean, has a Bachelor of Child Psychology degree and a Master of Education degree.
Sean and Martha are now living in Canada after spending almost 13 years in Mexico. Their children are gifted, one exceptionally so, mainly because of Martha's talents as a mother who worked tirelessly to bring educational stimulation to her children from birth. Martha's basic homeschooling instruction is the portion in Spanish. Sean was responsible for starting this website, having taught himself computer programming and various aspects of web design and maintenance. They have written books on the teaching of reading in Spanish.
Cameron Duff is the younger son of Duane and Pam. He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management degree and a Master of Arts in Library Science degree. Cameron developed the Jobs section of the website on his own time, after seeing so many out of work in Canada. He now holds a library reference position, and with his wife Kaitlin Duff, lives in the US State of Colorado.
