Tips

  1. To change a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator.
  2. To change a fraction to a per cent, multiply the numerator by 100, then divide the numerator by the denominator, then attach a per cent sign.
  3. To change a decimal to a fraction, eliminate the decimal and divide by the number made up of 1 plus the same number of zeros as there decimal points. This works for all decimals that are not repeated or continuous. Thus, .5 = 5/10 = 1/2 and .75 = 75/100 = 3/4 and .125 = 125/1000 = 1/8.
    For repeated decimals, it would be .3333 = 333 1/3 ÷ 1000 = 1000 ÷ 3000 = 1/3 and .5556 = 555 5/6 ÷ 1000 = 5000 ÷ 6000 = 5/6.
  4. To change a decimal to a per cent, move the decimal point two spaces to the right, then attach a per cent sign.
  5. To change a per cent to a fraction, move the decimal 2 places to the left and follow the same procedure as with changing a decimal to a fraction. Thus, 50% = 50/100 = 1/2 and 75% = 75/100 = 3/4. Also 33.33% = 33 1/3% = 100/300 = 1/3 and 55.56% = 55 5/9% = 500/900 = 5/9.
  6. To change a per cent to a decimal, move the deimal two places to the left, then remove the per cent sign.
