Parliament is bicameral and is located in Santiago.
The Chamber of Deputies has 120 members, who are elected to four-year terms by popular vote. The Senate has 38 members, who are elected by popular vote. In addition, 4 are appointed by the armed forces, 3 by the Supreme Court, and 2 by the president. Presidents who have served more than six years may enter for life. Those who are not appointed for life serve eight-year terms.
